FRESNO, CA - Early this morning, the County of Fresno had been impacted by the widespread global technology outage that was caused by the Windows update sent by cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike.
As of 4:00 pm, 72.7% of the workstation computers and laptops have been manually rebooted. 724 affected workstations still require the update and manual reboot.
Many staff members from the Internal Services Department will be working throughout the weekend and setting up a triage on Monday morning to ensure a seamless beginning of the week for all County staff.
CAO Paul Nerland stated, “We’re grateful to our Chief Operating Officer/Interim Director of Internal Services Ed Hill and the countless leaders and staff at Internal Services for their tireless efforts to restore thousands of workstations after this global outage. They have been working throughout the night and all day to mitigate any interruption of County services to our residents. Those who work in Internal Services are often behind-the-scenes, but their work enables frontline staff and services to continue unabated.”
