THE COUNTY OF FRESNO PROCLAIMS A LOCAL EMERGENCY DUE TO THE FRESNO JUNE LIGHTNING COMPLEX FIRE

FRESNO, CA – In response to the rapid rate of growth of the Fresno June Lightning Complex Fire (Bolt, Hog and Flash) and subsequent evacuation orders, the Fresno County Administrative Officer/Emergency Services Director Paul Nerland has proclaimed a Local Emergency.

The Board of Supervisors will convene a special meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Hall of Records to vote on adopting a resolution proclaiming and ratifying a Local Emergency as a result of the 2024 Fresno June Lightning Complex Fire. This action is necessary to ensure specific liability protection, emergency powers of the Emergency Services Director, and potential recovery of eligible costs, if any, from State and Federal emergency funds.

Per County Ordinance, Chapter 2.44, the Board will review the need to continue this local emergency once every 60 days until terminated at the earliest possible date when conditions warranting the proclamation have ended.
