Medi-Cal benefits offer free or low-cost medical and dental services for eligible children and adults. Enrollment for Medi-Cal coverage is open all year.

Who May Be Eligible for Medi-Cal

  • Children under the age of 21
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Low-income families
  • Adults without children, 19 to 64 years of age
  • Individuals over 65 years of age
  • Individuals with disabilities

Financial Eligibility

To be eligible for no cost Medi-Cal, a single adult individual must have an annual income lower than 138 percent of the federal poverty level. For families, the income limit may be higher, as it depends on number of individuals in the household. Those exceeding income limits may qualify for low-cost health insurance plans through Covered California. For certain Medi-Cal program requests prior to January 1, 2024 along with income limits, property limits may apply.
