NOTICE – COMMUNITY MEETING
February 5, 2019
You, and/or your representative, are invited to join Brandi Orth, Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters and her team in an important discussion about changes to the voting system in Fresno County.
Our current election system is more than 20 years old. The current ballot creation and vote counting system must be replaced and the County is exploring new systems that are certified by the State. At the same time, The Voter’s Choice Act gives California Counties the option of going to a new way of conducting elections designed to make voting more convenient and accessible. This new process allows voting locations that are open for 4 to 10 days and also allows the County to mail a ballot to all voters. Five counties (Madera, Nevada, Napa, Sacramento, and San Mateo) have already adopted this new way of conducting elections.
Fresno County Elections will hold five community meetings to discuss the options related to transitioning from the traditional polling place model to the Voter’s Choice Act model. If the County Clerk decides to convert to a new model, there is required public participation. These five meetings are in advance and in addition to the legally required notices and public comment.
